Disclaimer: The Peeler Park Cat Colony is something that should not be publicized. Neighbors and advocates do not want to encourage people to dump unwanted animals at the park. Please do not share this post. It's written for historical purposes only.
If you journey to the end of Neelys Bend into EN Peeler Park, you'll be greeted by scores of cats and raccoons. "Greeted" is likely too heavy of a verb, as they won't be greeting you but likely checking you out to see if you have food vs doing peel-outs in the parking lot. If you're still enough and there's not a bunch of cars moving in and out, eventually a deer or even a skunk might show up to check out the action.
In January 2023, Nashville Public Radio WPLN released a story on cat colonies. While Peeler isn't cited for the reasons listed in the disclaimer above, the photo on the story is taken at Peeler park. If you would like to donate food or money to help cat colonies, you can do that here.
